Today our scripture Clue was in
Doctrine and Covenants 109:7:

"....Seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom;  seek learning even by study and also by faith."

The "Best Books" are of course those that teach the Doctrine of Christ, but it is also good to read other wholesome literature for entertainment, inspiration, education, etc.  But we talked about how we need to be very choosy about the books we read. There is so much filth out there and I hope my children can have the courage to put a book down if it is degrading or "Yucky" (that's what I say).    So we went to the library to check out some good books for our big activity today!

We are going to do a few summer reading programs to help inspire my kids to use their quiet time to read (besides going to TV).

There is one at Chucky Cheese where the kids have to read every day for 2 weeks and they get 10 tokens to use. Its exciting.....admit it!  We may make this one of our activities for the day anyway, so they will have an extra 10 tokens that they earned themselves.  They'll be so proud and probably use them much more wisely!

Another one we are going to do is for TD Bank where the kids have to read 10 books and are then rewarded $10.

To help the kids keep track of their book reading, I printed off a cute little Summer Reading Log.

And then I gave the kids each a little bag of gummy worms that they can ONLY eat during their reading time..................

"Let's get reading....Bookworms!"

Thanks to Kathleen for the idea.  She's awesomely!
