July Scripture Summer part 2.....

Wowzers, a lot has been going on.  Summer is very busy and exciting!  Here are some more of our July scripture summer activities we've been doing .....

Proverbs 17:3
"The fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; but the Lord trieth the hearts."
Interpretation:  Fire will destroy some things, like wood, hay and stubble, but it only purifies such things as gold, silver and precious stones.  I told the kids that just as these metals are purified and improved as they are put in the furnace, so are we (most precious to our Heavenly Father)  refined and purified when trials come upon us and we use them to improve ourselves.
So with that being said, we went to a place called "Paint Your Heart Out" and the kids got to choose their own piece of pottery to paint.

I found it interesting and symbolic that the paint they were using did not look nearly as beautiful and vibrant as it did after it went through the firing process.  So it is with us.  We may feel like we are the pottery in the making, but if we stay strong through our trials, we will be glorious to behold.  In other words, we are a work in progress.  Ha Ha Ha!
Revelations 3:20
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. "
For our activity we went door bell ditching, which is always super exciting!  We left a little poem and some airheads at the doors and ran away, trying not to be caught.

 Here's our goofy little poem:
We know the air is hot
You feel like your boiling in a pot
But do not fret, we brought you some cheers
a little treat for your little dears!

1 Timothy 6:12

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life"

For our activity I got the kids water guns and they had a water-gun fight!

Mathew 5:30

"And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee.  for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell".

So I decided to cut the kids hands off today!

NO....just teasing!  But we did have some "cutting fun" and I let the older kids buzz the younger ones hair with my clippers.  Then Lexi and I got our hair done professionally.  Isn't that nice! What can I say, girls hair is not as easily corrected.

Don't worry, I had them shaved normal by the end of the day.  It was fun while it lasted though!

2 Samuel 10:12

"Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God; and the Lord do that which seemeth him good."

For our activity,  Lexi and her cousin Kira put on a "play" about courage for Family Home Evening.  It was the cutest production I have ever seen......like for reals!

Mathew 14:25-31

"And he said Come.  And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus."

We went on a motor boat ride with a few of our house guests...my sister and niece,  I told the kids they should try to walk on water...but they could not!  We need to work on their FAITH!!!

Psalms 84:11

"For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."

For our activity we went for a walk and then swam in the sunshine!!!

Psalms 84:10

"For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.  I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."

The kids got to put up the tent and watch "Saturday's Warriors" with their friends.  Then they "tried" to sleep out there, but didn't make it the whole night.....little chickens!!!

1 kings 17:13

"And Elijah said unto her, fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son."

We celebrated Joseph's 12th Birthday and made him a cake.

Luke 17:33

"Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it."

We made some strawberry jam preserves for our freezer and it tastes super yummmmmmmmy!

To be continued.....
