Green Tea?

Sometimes as a mother, I feel exhausted, because I have not had a good nights rest, after waking up to fevers, coughing, wet beds, nursing, nightmares, etc.  Then, with 5 children running around the house, an afternoon nap is not very realistic.  I have often prayed about what could be done.  The show must go on in spite of my lack of sleep, after all.
I have never been a big diet cola drinker because I know about so many of the terrible chemicals and effects of soda.  But I have often thought how nice it would be to have a healthy way to get a good boost of energy, especially after a terrible night of sleep, when rest was not an option.  This is why I am so excited about the Isagenix E+ shot.
E+ is a product derived from green tea, yerba mate, rhodiola, eleuthero root, schisandra berry, and leuzea root.  It has adaptogenic botanicals that increase stamina, energy, alertness, stress, fat burning, and athletic performance.   It has 35 calories and 85mg of an all natural occurring caffeine (equivalent to 2-12 ounce diet cokes).  Drinking it helps fight fatigue and gives you an all natural energy boost without the after drag that soda's bring.  This is a fantastic product to have on hand to help you on those days when your feeling slumpy and absolutely require energy.
There are so many people who struggle with coffee and soda addictions.  There are so many toxins, acids and chemicals that are not good for the body in those products.  They also throw your body's PH balance out of wack which contribute to many other health problems.
Now here's the debate:  The first two ingredients are Green Tea Extract and Yerba Mate.
In the Word of Wisdom D&C 89 it says .....
"That inasmuch as any man drinketh wine or strong drink among you, behold it is not good,  neither meet in the sight of your Father, only in assembling yourselves together to offer up your  sacraments before him. And, behold, this should be wine, yea, pure wine of the grape of the vine, of your own make.  And, again, strong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies.  And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly."
It is very clear that strong drinks are NOT for our body.  I find it interesting that it says that we can drink grape juice that is pure.....but not "strong drink".  The difference here is the fermentation of the grape juice.  Grape juice is good in its pure form, but when it is fermented, it is changed and becomes a "strong drink" that should not be consumed. Same thing with the green tea plant.

Green tea and black tea, of course, are leaves from the same plant, but are processed differently. For black tea, the leaves are processed in such a way as to allow fermentation (during which water evaporates out of the leaf and the leaf absorbs more oxygen from the air), resulting in the dark brown color. For green tea, the leaves are processed and dried in such a way as to avoid fermentation.  Why is fermenting so bad?  During the fermenting process, many toxins from the environment are absorbed into the tea leaves, making them quite toxic to our body.  Also during fermenting, many vital nutrients and minerals are lost and the caffeine content is significantly increased.  Black tea, coffee and alcohol are all fermented beverages.
Yerba mate is the second ingredient.  It is an herbal tea often drunk in South America known for is unique sustaining energy.
The First Presidency gave a statement on cola in 1973 that said,
“With reference to cola drinks, the Church has never officially taken a position on this matter, but the leaders of the Church have advised, and we do now specifically advise, against the use of any drink containing harmful habit-forming drugs under circumstances that would result in acquiring the habit. Any beverage that contains ingredients harmful to the body should be avoided."

So #1 is it addictive.  #2 is it harmful to the body.
#1:  IS THE E SHOT ADDICTIVE?
NO!  It is widely believed that caffeine can be highly addictive if used in high quantities, most especially in synthetic caffeine.   The source of caffeine is a major contributor to addiction. Since the caffeine found in E+ is in small quantities and is a naturally occurring caffeine, it is neither addictive or harmful on the body.     Read here about the msjor differences between naturally occurring and synthetic caffeine:  https://www.facebook.com/notes/tawnys-health-buddies/synthetic-caffeine-vs-naturally-occurring-caffiene/1439772982989401

#2:  IS E+ HARMFUL TO THE BODY?
The E + shot is actually very good for your body, unlike many energy shots.  The green tea extract contained in the E+  have shown to stimulate thermogenesis (increase your fat burning potential), increase antioxidant status and reduce stress.  Yerba mate is a herbal tea that can provide help to your cardiovascular system and  protect against oxidative stress.  The health benefits of Yerba mate are largely attributed to its high concentration of bio active compounds including polyphenols, flavonoids, amino acids, vitamins and minerals.  The E+ does not contain any artificial sweeteners, colors or favors.

Latter-day Saints know that typically, where there is no specific direction on a given subject, we are left to our own judgment, guided by principles instead of rigid rules. This idea can be seen in the cola policy above; it’s not about setting and enforcing unyielding boundaries, but keeping ourselves un-addicted and healthy.  Each member has access to personal revelation through the gift of the Holy Ghost and to scriptural principles that would guide them to a self-imposed standard that may legitimately vary from person to person.

The D&C says....

And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome aherbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with aprudence and bthanksgiving.

I truly believe that God gave us these wholesome pure herbs for our benefit.  I believe that Heavenly Father gave this to me, and you, as a gift of compassion for the over exhausted, to be used with prudence and with good judgment.

I vote yes to E+
The end!
